Supporting Work
The process i use when working is quite intuitive and spontaneous, i like to work with materials that i find around me or help give the piece some context, i hope materials help to direct the process of making work too. Traditional sketchbook work is also produced but this is usually undertaken for more conventional pieces; paintings and sculpture. Sketchbook work can take the form of quick drawings, developed drawings, Notes, Verbal Ideas, and scrapbook like inclusions. Digital Cameras play a large part of forming and producing my reference material. Working with the iPhone i have found the camera useful for quick thumbnails that store location as well as date and time also the ability to store notes and record sound adding additional dimensions to work methods. I am very aware that the presentation of sketchbook work in the academic context can be a core part of the assessment process.

Flash Sketchbook?
Whistlejacket Rocker
This is a screenshot of a part of the Whistlejacket transcription i produced, A flash animation inspired by youtube videos of horses at stud.
The animation needs to be started by right clicking it and selecting play. There are some interactive parts.
This link is to a file which is not the completed version. A more complete version with smoother motion, optional backgrounds, more sounds and a PG censorship option was exhibited.
Interactive flash components are experimented with, mouse over the head produces sound and the red circle can be removed by clicking it.

Inside Out
Screenshot of various Sketchup files
After viewing and a Lindsay Seers show at Matt's Gallery i was fortunate enough to be able to ask her about a video and the tools she used to create it. I have been playing with Sketchup ever since which i think is a wonderful tool especially as the free version is so functional. This is one area i am keen to explore not only as a tool for modelling and animation but also looking at 3D printing and virtualised gallery and exhibition space.
Other "3-D" tools i have used and experimented with include Z-Brush, Maya and Poser, 3D Studio Max, Bryce, and POV, all seem to have their stonger and weaker points which need time experimenting to exploit to their fullest.

Billy's Front Room
Did you get it?
Dominoes
Raw footage of a piece done themed on location - i think this is a good illustration of how i like to use materials that come to hand, the way of the bricoleur
(unfortunately blogger's display preview image for videos is not functioning)
